00:00:04
hi i'm so i'm the founder of uh in a book it's enough okay it is a nonprofit association
00:00:12
our goal is very simple we want to encourage children to innovate
00:00:17
we want them to understand computational science engineering
00:00:21
design from a young age as possible
00:00:26
and the idea is basically to shift children from being consumers of digital products
00:00:33
to not just consuming but also producing digital products and this is already happening if you look in
00:00:39
other countries such as india or united states in california you see teenagers up using
00:00:44
some of the some kind of software that some of the startups presented here today
00:00:49
you get teenagers were producing a cancer detection engines using
00:00:53
google dot should intelligence engine ninety five percent accuracy
00:00:58
um so it's quite possible to do the sorts of things we have two colours the first
00:01:04
one is the uh independent track and then the second one is the educational kayak
00:01:09
with the independent track we have three classes of workshops that
00:01:12
we provide for children advertiser chef in master chef
00:01:17
without the ties or the goal is to introduce children to lots of different technologies
00:01:22
including learning how to code it's uh it's like a smorgasbord they come they experience a
00:01:28
lot of things so we run workshop at the end of last year where
00:01:32
during one week um children created a a car racing game they created immobile ah
00:01:39
they program the senior robots to fight each other
00:01:44
and do crazy things um and this was all in the space of one week so we know that they can learn a lot
00:01:50
chef is for children who are more interested in technology and
00:01:56
they want to learn for example see shot programming or
00:02:00
three d. design or creative digital design then we can go into more detail in half
00:02:06
and most the chef is for teenagers primarily who have an idea
00:02:11
they want to build something and it could be hardware and software it could just be software
00:02:16
but something which has a value in the marketplace or has a
00:02:19
social value and for those children we can structure the project
00:02:23
and then we pull into the quiet mentoring and the support that is necessary to make that
00:02:28
a dream or idea of reality okay so that's that's really this track maybe run
00:02:35
i'm actually quite happy today to announce that uh we launching our second program
00:02:40
in july of this year it's morse code and this is one week program for
00:02:45
children from ten to fourteen it's going to introduce them to data communications
00:02:50
crypt already encryption and we're also introduced them to a little bit about
00:02:55
fake news fiction versus fact on the web as we saw
00:03:00
a lot of that doing american elections another french ones that i'm also will be introducing them to the idea of narrative
00:03:08
where political groups or groups which haven't our agenda that's are shifting public
00:03:13
opinion without even the public relation that it's happening to them
00:03:17
so these are the kinds of things that we do with this track the second one
00:03:22
is actually more important because they're what we try to
00:03:25
do is introduce computational thinking into the schooling system
00:03:30
it's too many children today technology so easy when we were younger than i was yelling at least you know
00:03:36
if uh if i had to calculate two thirds of a number i have to do it in here
00:03:40
but today it's much easier just take the mobile phone going for the calculator to set of a number and it's not
00:03:45
but it's still faster to do it in here children just don't
00:03:47
realise this um plus the idea of computational thinking which is
00:03:53
being able to look at a problem and to solve it to break it down into step
00:03:58
to think about boundary conditions and plan for those those are the kinds of things that
00:04:02
you can teach already in the schooling system starting at the age of seven
00:04:06
at the age of nine and so here what we're trying to do with the education system in suisse ramon
00:04:12
is to try and introduce computational signs computational thinking from
00:04:17
the younger age from primary school secondary to school
